Jan 5 : Lil Jon @ Hepburn Bar
To the window, to the wall, till the sweat drop down your… forehead, you’ll be in for a good night at Hepburn Bar this coming Friday as Atlanta rapper Lil’ Jon touches down for an evening of mayhem and crunk. Mr. Jon, also known as Jonathan Smith, is currently on a mini-tour of China, with two dates in the country, first in Papaya Club in Xi’an before arriving in our fair city. Largely known for his collaborations, Lil’ Jon’s energetic musical style will surely manifest in a grand ol' party at Hepburn this weekend.
Jan 5, 11pm; RMB200. Hepburn Bar. See event listing. Tickets.
Jan 6: Tommy Cash @ Mao Livehouse
He may share a name with Johnny Cash’s younger brother, but Tommy Cash is not your average country western singer. In fact, he’s not a country western singer at all but rather an Estonian rapper with collaborations alongside the likes of Charlie XCX under his belt. Cash’s arrival in China has been well documented, as the expat community salivates over the prospect of stops in Kunming and Chengdu, where he will perform alongside some of the latter city’s best rappers, including The Higher Brothers.
Jan 6, 10pm; RMB150 pre-sale, RMB200 at the door. See event listing. Mao Livehouse. Tickets.
Jan 6: WhyOceans/aMnesiac/Space Station @ T:union
A post-rock night to remember this weekend, as Guangzhou act Space Station opens for more established Guangdong bands WhyOceans and aMnesiac. T:union’s high ceilings provide the perfect setting for this trio of atmospheric acts to create billowing and resonant waves of sound. The second stop on a three-date mini-tour around Guangdong, each of the acts will surely be raring to put on a spacey, electric performance.
